If you should ever have to activate the ELT, the 406 MHz transmitter sends an encoded signal every 50 seconds to alert search and rescue teams of your location, so they can more easily bring you home.

De Artex G406-4 emergency locator transmitter ( ELT ) is ontworpen met de luchtvaartmarkt in gedachten en communiceert op alle 3 noodfrequenties (121,5, 243,0 en 406 MHz). De G406-4 ELT wordt automatisch geactiveerd tijdens een crash en verzendt een digitaal bericht van 406 MHz naar een wereldwijd netwerk van zoek- en reddingssatellieten, waarmee lokale hulpverleners snel en nauwkeurig kunnen identificeren waar u bent, maar ook wie u bent.

Plus, should circumstances require you to move away from your aircraft and to a more protected or accessible area, the wrap-around auxiliary antenna will continue to transmit your distress signal, even after the ELT has been removed from the aircraft.
